Job Description:
Responsible for assisting in coaching, recruiting, scheduling and budgeting of the University's intercollegiate Division III Men's Basketball program. Teaches activity classes and a second assignment within the Athletic Department will be required. Responsible for planning, scheduling, and hiring employees in the University's Physical Education Department and the Staff and Faculty Wellness classes.
  • Assists coaching the intercollegiate Division III Basketball program.
  • Recruits qualified student athletes according to TU Admission Office guidelines.
  • Second assignment within athletics, as assigned by the Athletic Director.
  • Schedules PHED classes and instructors.
  • Reports to the Office of Academic Affairs and the Registrar's Office.
  • Evaluates, meets with, and reviews instructors' classes.
  • Uploads, analyzes, and evaluates film of the TU team and opposing teams.
  • Makes appropriate arrangements for travel to out of town contests.
  • Teaches an activity class.
  • Operates and manages the budget for both PHED and Wellness.
  • Helps manage expenditures within the budget.
  • Scheduling faculty and staff wellness classes.
  • Hires, schedules, and in charge of the University's Staff and Faculty Wellness program.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES
  • Abides by NCAA Division III Basketball rules and regulations.
  • Remains "on-call" for student-athletes needs 24/7, nights and weekends. Requires extensive travel and time during the regular season and during the recruiting season.
  • Cooperates and collaborates with other employees in the spirit of teamwork and collegiality and interacts with confidence, patience and integrity to provide professional leadership during emergencies.
  • Complies with all Trinity University policies and guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as required.

EDUCATION
Required:
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
Preferred:
Master's degree or equivalent from four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
1 year to 3 years.
Coaching experience, preferably at Division III level.
Background in college basketball as a player, assistant, or a managerial role.
Preferred:
3 years to 5 years.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Required:
Working effectively with diverse learners.
Teamwork, flexibility, and initiative.
Basic knowledge of strategies for basketball teams.
Knowledge to intentionally plan and execute team practices and individual workouts.
Coaching, recruiting, and budget management.
Scheduling, implementing, and running daily practices.
Managing, reporting PHED instructors.
Hiring and scheduling PHED and Wellness instructors.
Demonstrate effectiveness in the recruitment of student athletes and the instructional aspects of coaching.
