Qualifications:
  1. Valid CPR certification.
  2. Valid State of Ohio Pupil Activity Permit.
  3. Successful BCII & FBI background checks.
  4. Successfully completed the NFHS Coaching certification.
  5. Successfully completed the Sudden Signs of Cardiac Arrest (Lindsay's Law) certification.
  6. Prior successful basketball coaching experience.

Description/Duties:
  1. To build positive relationships with student athletes, parents and support groups for the benefit of the players and the basketball program. Program decisions must reflect building positive relationships.
  2. Oversee and coordinate the entire basketball program (grades 7 - 12) and assist other feeder programs to insure a successful comprehensive basketball program. Offense, defense and fundamental skills will be taught at the appropriate level.
  3. Reach out to the general student body (grades 7 - 12) and other feeder programs within the City of Warren to encourage participation in the basketball program.
  4. Reach out to parents and community members to increase participation and promote a positive image of the Warren City Schools and its basketball program.
  5. Work closely with the Athletic Director and Building Principals to promote academic achievement and positive character development of our basketball players (grades 7 - 12).
  6. Provide a fair due process procedure for student athlete discipline with a willingness to work through the developmental process of our young adults by using well thought out discipline procedures that help student athletes modify their behavior.
  7. Work closely with the Athletic Director to schedule basketball contests (grades 7 - 12).
  8. Promote school and community spirit for our basketball program by attending and supporting school rallies, booster, civic and other meetings to market the basketball program.
  9. Facilitate and oversee a highly visible basketball program with great enthusiasm and energy. Instill in the players a sense of individual and team spirit of competition.
  10. Facilitate and oversee a basketball program that always demonstrates class. Demonstrate and instill in the players an attitude of good sportsmanship, which teaches solid moral and ethical values and builds teamwork.
  11. Work together in a professional manner with financial support and booster groups and the Athletic Director to run a program that at a minimum is capable of financially sustaining itself.
  12. Work with the Athletic Director to select assistant basketball coaches.
  13. Lead, teach and evaluate the assistant coaching staff (grades 7 - 12) in relationship to the goals of the comprehensive successful basketball program as stated in this job description.
  14. Provide a conditioning program (grades 7 - 12) within the rules of the OHSAA that insures maximum participation and supervision. These programs are to be used to encourage maximum participation and not to exclude participants from coming out for the team.
  15. Promote and facilitate a strength and conditioning program for all student athletes in the basketball program maximizing use of District and SRWC resources.
  16. Oversee and coordinate all basketball summer camps, clinics, summer programs for the District.
  17. Promote and develop a good working relationship with all coaches and teachers within the District.
  18. Support our student athletes in college preparation activities, e.g. application, testing, financial aid.
  19. Promote and support our student athletes with college recruiting and placement. Great effort should be given to place student athletes at the Division I, II or III level to play basketball in college. Effort should also be given to insure a career path for those student athletes that will not play basketball in college.
  20. Abide by the rules and regulations, policies and procedures of the Warren City School District Board of Education.
  21. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent, Principal and/or Athletic Director.

Salary Ratio: Coaching - Index 30.0 of the Bachelors Degree, Step 1, Salary Table A.
Teaching - Placement on Salary Table A contingent upon degree and prior experience.
Effective Date: No later than May 15 in preparation for the 2026-27 school year.
