Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Plant Superintendent, this position is responsible for monitoring, controlling and maintaining a wet brick extruding machine, and supports the manufacturing department in all areas of the plant and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Runs extruder and monitors wet brick to ensure that it is extruded properly
• Adjusts extruder to produce different shapes, colors and sizes of brick
• Performs changeovers, changing clay and/or the kinds of brick produced
• Adjusts mat frames to cut texture on brick face
• Maintains and cleans extruder as required
• Checks machine for proper function and identifies problems that affect ability of machine to run properly and safely
• Maintains work area according to company specifications for cleanliness and safety
• All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representative
• Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
• Regular attendance is required
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Requires on-the-job training to be able to perform duties
  • Machine Operating skills or experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to use and operate a forklift, extruder, reclaimer, grinder, slug cutter, mixers, die changers, feeders, rivet gun. Hand tool, square, tape measure, impact wrench and chain hoist
  • Must be able to be certified as a forklift operator by the company.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend instructions
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, customers and superiors.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills
  • Ability to follow simple instructions
  • Regular attendance is required.
