Emergency Medical Technician – EMT

Part-Time Hourly

Exciting, high demand job that provides opportunities to provide excellent EMS services to the citizens of Milwaukee County. Fiserv Forum is our largest venue and provides lots of opportunities to provide services to concerts, Bucks games, and other gatherings. We also provide services at the Milwaukee County Zoo, and Admirals games as our primary venue locations. We have also created a CORE Team - Community Oriented Regional EMS - which focuses on the needs of the community and responds accordingly

Job Summary: Operate within the Wisconsin State EMS Scope of Practice as approved within the Treatment Guidelines of Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management -Emergency Medical Service (OEM-EMS). Providers are expected to respond promptly to requests for service, assess and provide appropriate treatment, and complete documentation of the patient encounter. Available hours vary: events are primarily in the evenings, but day hours are routinely available.

Position Duties:

  • Immediately respond to requests for service when notified of an event requiring medical assessment and treatment.
  • Thoroughly document the entire patient encounter consistent with expectations of Milwaukee County OEM-EMS. Accurate documentation is essential to record events, provide information for CQIP, and to provide information on risk assessments to the venues we serve.
  • Complete annual LMS training as required by the county and the Office of EMS. Complete in-house training or specialized training sessions as mandated by the EMS Division.
  • Work with EMS Supervisor to assess risks of events and prepare equipment accordingly. Follow direction of EMS Supervisor for staffing positions to provide optimal coverage for the event. Complete inventory lists and ensure equipment is functioning/stocked appropriately.
  • Support EMS leadership in projects to further the vision and mission of the division.
  • Support Milwaukee County missions with a focus on health equity
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license, which must be maintained throughout employment
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Current State of Wisconsin EMT
  • CPR certification
  • ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications or within 6 months of start date
  • Able to lift/carry/push/pull up to 100 pounds on a regular basis
  • Ability to make informed/independent decisions quickly
  • Thorough understanding of incident command structure and functions
  • Applicants will need to pass a background check and drug screen

Preferred Experience:

  • At least one year of experience working with EMS agency.
  • NREMT EMT

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of basic Emergency Medical Terminology; knowledge of common emergency medical services forms and reports; skilled at analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity (i.e. auditing, problem solving, composing reports). Ability to maintain sensitive or confidential information, explain and gather information, answer queries, or aid internal and/or external contacts. Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, reports, short correspondence and memos.
