Job Summary
To provide strategic guidance and assist with all aspects of the internal and external communications for Grambling State Athletics and fifteen (15) intercollegiate sports.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with coordinating the activities of the athletic communications office
  • Great understanding of sports information game day duties and operations
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Assist with the production of media guides, Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) booklets, season ticket packets, schedules and game programs
  • Assist in providing statistical coverage for football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, bowling, and tennis contests
  • Assist with press box coordination and operations for home games and press events
  • Assist with the management of the athletic website () by writing timely game previews and recaps updating results with links to box scores and writing season previews and recaps
  • Assist with staff, coach and student-athlete biographies
  • Maintain digital archive of action and team photos
  • Assist with timely submission of statistics to SWAC, NCAA and local media
  • Endure timely updates of statistics for all sports on Grambling State University Athletic website
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and external media members
  • Attention to details and effective time management skills
  • Abide by all NCAA, SWAC and University rules and regulations

Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • One or more years of experience
  • Effective written/oral communication
  • Must be computer literate
  • Experiencing using stat software (stat crew, NCAA Genius)
  • Ability to work nights and weekends
  • Sound judgment and maturity
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree
  • Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics or communications
