ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Train and coach the members of the program in season and off season
Coordinate the development and promotion of the program
Comply with school and school board policies and regulations
Relate positively to parents and other community representatives
Provide instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, strong work ethic, responsibility, team work, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence
Has a thorough knowledge of school, conference, TSSAA, and NCAA athletic policies and is responsible for their implementation
Attends all required meetings and submits all required paperwork in a timely manner
Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the school athletic program and school community
Completes all TSSAA rules exams and attends meetings
Supervises practices, games, and team trips
Communicates and works with athletic training staff
Maintains inventory of uniform/equipment
Schedule games with approval of the Athletic Director and school sponsor
Represent the school and system in a professional manner
Supervises the Booster club and its activities
Maintains good public relations with media, Booster club and volunteers
Ensures that facilities and grounds are safe to use and communicates with Maintenance staff about all issues
Performs other functions as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Complete the TBI/FBI background check performed by Collierville Schools
Valid Tennessee Teacher License (if applicable) or ASEP/NFHS Coaching Certification
Ability to organize and supervise a sports program/team
Preferred previous coaching experience in assigned sport
Knowledge of technical aspects of the assigned sport and willingness to continue to learn and examine new ideas pertinent to the assigned sport or coaching in general
