Position Summary
Orange County Baseball Club and Innovation Baseball Partners are seeking a dynamic Director of Marketing to lead the developing and launching of a baseball team in the Orange County, CA market.
The Director of Marketing is responsible for being the bridge between the team and fans, ownership of the relationships with relevant local stakeholders, the building of community momentum and excitement, and supporting the launching of the team's IP.
This role collaborates closely with the Director of Operations and the Director of Partnerships at the club-level to bring the team to life, and with the CMO of IBP and IBP Central Services to develop our integrated story within the overall portfolio. This role will additionally be supported by a team that will help craft and execute the Asian-inspired themes of the role in parallel to its local community and media relations.
This is a senior leadership position requiring strategic vision, hands-on execution, cross-department collaboration, and a deep understanding of the Southern California consumer market.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Executive Leadership
  • Drive the development of a marketing team and processes for OC Baseball Club, including the:
    • Management of performance KPIs and conversion reporting protocols.
      • Monitoring progress against goals and adjust strategies as needed
    • Presenting updates to executive leadership and ownership
    • Recruiting and training marketing staff members, including but not limited to the Community Manager, Marketing interns, and the Street Team
  • Document best practices for marketing and brand development, and participate in marketing development at the IBP-level
  • Collaborate with internal teams on partnerships, operations, ticketing, and merchandising to align the team's strategy and operations to a positive fan experience
  • Collaborate with IBP Executive team and Marketing leadership

2. Community Partnerships and Engagement
  • Be the conduit to the greater community by
    • Leading the strategy around community outreach in and out of the season
    • Engaging with local businesses for themed nights, ticketing support, and in-stadium experience
    • Building a promotional calendar for themed nights, events, giveaways, and merchandise
    • Designing initiatives and completing outreach to schools, nonprofits, civic organizations, and community leaders that strengthen the brand narrative
    • Representing the team at community functions to ensure a visible and positive presence
    • Managing in-kind donations, team appearances, and mascot/community ambassador schedules
    • Developing annual community impact reports and storytelling assets

3. Brand Awareness and Fan Acquisition
  • Lead organic social media strategy, content creation, and engagement across platforms (e.g., Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, TikTok)
  • Collaborate with IBP Central Services on a paid digital content calendar, in coordination with game schedule, promotions, and campaigns
  • Track and analyze digital metrics and fan engagement to inform strategy and drive growth
  • Drive ticketing in partnership with the Business Operations and ensure alignment with the promotional calendar and partnership campaigns
  • Partner with PR Agency to secure media coverage and create coverage reports

4. Creative Services
  • Oversee creative production (graphics, videos, promotional materials) in collaboration with IBP's Central Services
  • Serve as the primary brand steward and communications strategist for the organization, including the tracking and maintaining of press, media, and public relations efforts
  • Be the fans' #1 advocate; driving reporting around fan attendance, experience, and feedback.
  • Support the defining of an Asian-inspired baseball experience for the OC Baseball Club
  • Develop and drive a merchandising strategy in partnership with IBP Central Services and bring the products to life
  • Maintain and evolve the team's brand identity, including voice, look/feel, and storytelling

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, public relations, or community engagement; sports/entertainment industry preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership in brand building, fan engagement, and content strategy
  • Strong understanding of digital and social media marketing best practices
  • Creative thinker with a strong attention to detail and storytelling instincts
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience building and mentoring teams
  • Strategic thinker with ability to execute and adapt in a fast-paced, seasonal business
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working on-site during evenings, weekends, and game days as required

Compensation and Benefits
Salary: $100,000 to $120,000 annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic considerations
Incentive Compensation: Eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan designed to reward revenue partnerships and sponsorship sales
