Adecco is actively recruiting for a detail-oriented Mold Base Machinist in Erie, PA. Our client is a high-tolerance tooling and mold base manufacturing company that is growing!! The Mold Base Machinist is responsible for the setup, machining, fitting, and inspection of precision mold bases and related tooling components used in high-quality mold manufacturing applications.
The Mold Base Machinist will possess strong CNC machining and blueprint-reading skills, along with experience working with large precision components, tight tolerances, and mold base assemblies in a fast-paced tool and die environment.
Key Responsibilities for the Mold Base Machinist in Erie, PA:
Set up and operate CNC milling, drilling, boring, and machining equipment used in mold base manufacturing
Machine mold bases, plates, inserts, and tooling components to engineering specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and work instructions
Perform precision drilling, tapping, boring, spotting, and alignment operations
Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision measuring instruments
Ensure proper alignment, squareness, and accuracy of mold base assemblies
Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to maintain quality standards
Troubleshoot machining, setup, and dimensional issues as needed
Maintain proper tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets
Collaborate with engineering, programming, and assembly departments to support production schedules
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Follow all company safety and quality procedures
Key Requirements for the Mold Base Machinist in Erie, PA:
3+ years of machining experience in a mold shop, tool and die, or precision manufacturing environment
Experience machining mold bases or large tooling components preferred
Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
Ability to work with tight tolerances and precision measurements
Experience operating CNC mills, boring mills, and related machining equipment
Familiarity with FANUC, Haas, or similar CNC controls preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
Mold base fitting and assembly experience
Experience with large plate machining and precision alignment work
Knowledge of tooling materials, heat treat processes, and mold construction
CAD/CAM familiarity is a plus
Crane and material handling experience preferred
