Base Pay Commission information

What is base pay commission?

Base pay commission is a compensation structure where employees receive a fixed salary (base pay) plus additional earnings based on their performance, typically through sales or meeting specific targets (commission). This model provides financial stability with the base salary, while also incentivizing employees to achieve higher results through the commission component. It is commonly used in sales roles to motivate staff and reward strong performance.

How does the base pay plus commission structure impact daily work priorities and team collaboration in sales roles?

In sales roles with a base pay plus commission structure, professionals often balance achieving individual sales targets with supporting overall team goals. While commission incentives drive personal performance, many organizations encourage collaboration through shared leads, team meetings, and joint client presentations. This environment fosters friendly competition, but also requires strong communication skills and a willingness to share best practices with colleagues. Managing time effectively between prospecting, client follow-ups, and administrative tasks is essential to maximize both base salary and commission earnings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sales representative working on a base pay plus commission structure?

To excel as a Sales Representative on a base pay plus commission structure, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and typically a high school diploma or bachelor's degree. Familiarity with CRM software like Salesforce and proficiency in sales tracking tools are commonly required. Outstanding communication, resilience, and persuasive negotiation skills help you build relationships and close deals effectively. These abilities directly impact your earning potential and the company's revenue growth in a competitive sales environment.

What is the difference between Base Pay Commission vs Sales Associate?

Job description

Job description:

Base Pay + Uncapped Commission + Bonuses | Paid Training | Qualified Leads Provided

Turn Conversations Into Earnings — No Lead Generation Required

Are you confident talking to people, comfortable making presentations, and motivated by the opportunity to earn more based on your performance?

Home Performance Inc. is hiring a Field Sales Representative / Home Energy Consultant to help homeowners understand and enroll in energy-efficiency programs.

This is not a traditional cold-calling sales position. We provide the leads. Your job is to connect with qualified homeowners, explain the program and its benefits, answer questions, and help interested customers complete the enrollment process.

You'll receive base pay plus uncapped commission, giving you the stability of guaranteed compensation with the ability to increase your earnings based on performance.

If you have experience in sales, customer service, hospitality, recruiting, account management, marketing, automotive sales, wireless sales, home improvement, or any other customer-facing position where your personality and communication skills matter, we want to hear from you.

Energy-industry experience is NOT required. We will train the right person.

What You'll Do

  • Contact homeowners using company-provided qualified leads
  • Speak with customers by phone and in person about available energy-efficiency programs
  • Explain program benefits, eligibility requirements, and next steps in a simple and engaging way
  • Conduct in-person presentations with homeowners / customers
  • Build relationships and establish trust with potential participants
  • Help interested homeowners complete the enrollment process
  • Follow up with qualified leads and prospective participants
  • Use a company-provided iPad, laptop, and digital enrollment systems
  • Maintain accurate records of customer contacts and enrollments
  • Work toward individual enrollment and performance goals
  • Travel to assigned program areas to meet with homeowners and conduct presentations

Who Does Well in This Role?

You do not need previous energy-efficiency experience.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Confident and comfortable talking to new people
  • Personable, professional, and able to build rapport quickly
  • Motivated by goals, commissions, and performance incentives
  • Comfortable speaking with customers over the phone and face-to-face
  • Able to explain information in a way that is easy to understand
  • Self-motivated and able to manage their own schedule and follow-ups
  • Comfortable using an iPad, laptop, and other technology
  • Organized and dependable
  • Willing and able to travel regularly

Experience That Transfers Well

We encourage you to apply if you have experience in:

  • Sales
  • Customer Service
  • Account Management
  • Hospitality
  • Recruiting
  • Retail or Wireless Sales
  • Automotive Sales
  • Home Improvement Sales
  • Marketing or Promotions
  • Community Outreach
  • Customer Engagement
  • Business Development

Don't have direct sales experience? If you are outgoing, persuasive, comfortable talking to people, and motivated to learn, we encourage you to apply.

Compensation

Base Pay Starting at $40,000/year

PLUS Uncapped Commission

Weekly Pay

Your earning potential does not stop at your base salary. This position rewards employees who consistently connect with homeowners, deliver strong presentations, and successfully enroll customers into available programs.

Travel & Schedule

This is a field-based position with travel to assigned program locations.

  • Overnight travel is expected approximately 3–4 nights per week when assigned to an active program area
  • Company-paid accommodations for required business travel
  • Flexible scheduling may be required based on homeowner availability
  • Some evening appointments may be necessary
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required

Applicants should be comfortable with frequent travel before applying.

What We Offer

  • Base pay + uncapped commission
  • Qualified leads provided
  • Paid training
  • Weekly payroll
  • Health insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Company-provided equipment as applicable
  • Company-paid accommodations for required business travel
  • Opportunities for advancement

Why Join Home Performance Inc.?

We're looking for people who want more than a position where their earnings stay the same regardless of their performance.

At Home Performance Inc., you'll have the opportunity to combine guaranteed base compensation with uncapped commission, receive qualified leads rather than having to generate your own, and build a career within a growing organization.

You'll also be helping homeowners understand programs designed to improve their home's energy efficiency and potentially reduce their energy costs.

If you're confident, motivated, comfortable talking to people, and ready for a position where your performance can directly increase your earnings, apply today.
