What is a base commission?

Base commission jobs are positions where employees receive a fixed base salary in addition to earning commissions based on their sales or performance. This pay structure provides a guaranteed income while also incentivizing employees to exceed targets and increase their earnings. Base commission roles are common in sales, real estate, and financial services, offering both financial stability and the potential for higher income through successful performance.

How does a base commission structure influence teamwork and individual performance in sales roles?

A base commission structure provides a fixed salary along with performance-based incentives, which helps balance financial security and motivation for sales professionals. This model encourages healthy competition while reducing stress associated with 100% commission roles. Teamwork is often promoted, as the base pay allows representatives to support one another without feeling that their entire income is at stake. Additionally, it fosters a more collaborative environment where knowledge sharing and mentoring are common, benefiting both individual and team performance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a base commission sales representative, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Base Commission Sales Representative, you need strong sales acumen, product knowledge, and typically a high school diploma or higher. Familiarity with CRM software, sales tracking tools, and sometimes certification in sales techniques is often required. Outstanding communication, resilience, and persuasive negotiation skills make someone stand out in this role. These skills are crucial for building client relationships, achieving targets, and maximizing earnings in a competitive sales environment.

Description:

Outside Sales Representative - Build Your Territory. Control Your Income. Grow With a National Leader.

Since 1994, Rasa Floors has built a reputation as a premier leader in the multifamily flooring industry. With operations across multiple states and continued expansion, we provide the brand strength, operational support, and stability that allow our sales professionals to focus on what they do best — growing revenue. We are expanding in Greater Rochester, a market with significant multifamily housing opportunity. This is a true territory-building role designed for a driven sales professional who wants to build a book of business, grow recurring revenue, and directly control their income through performance.

If you are competitive, self-motivated, and ready to own your results — this is your opportunity.

Why Top Performers Choose This Role

  • True Territory Ownership: Build and grow your market like it’s your own business.
  • High Income Potential: Competitive base + commission during ramp. Post ramp, a 100% commission structure designed for high producers with unlimited earning potential.
  • Established Brand: Represent a national leader with over 30 years of credibility in the industry.
  • Market Opportunity: Strong multifamily growth in Greater Baltimore creates real expansion potential.
  • Professional Development: Ongoing sales training, mentorship, and access to industry events.
  • Clear Career Path: We promote from within and reward performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and expand a defined territory within the multifamily housing market.
  • Prospect and develop new business through networking, referrals, outreach, and industry events.
  • Establish strong relationships with property managers and key decision-makers.
  • Conduct site visits, gather measurements, and develop customized flooring proposals.
  • Present solutions, close new business, and grow recurring revenue.
  • Maintain CRM tracking, pipeline management, and sales reporting.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure seamless execution and long-term client satisfaction.

Who Thrives Here

Top performers in this role:

  • Take full ownership of their territory and results.
  • Are disciplined, competitive, and goal-driven.
  • Confidently prospect, present, and close.
  • Build trust quickly and develop long-term client partnerships.
  • Use CRM tools and data to manage pipeline effectively.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of commission-based sales experience with a proven track record.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel throughout the Rochester area.
  • Preferred: Experience in outside B2B sales, multifamily/property management, or building materials.

Earnings, Benefits & Growth:

We invest in your success from day one — and reward long-term performance.

  • 12-month ramp-up period with base salary + commission ($65,000-$75,000) to support you as you build your pipeline.
  • After ramp, transition to a performance-driven 100% commission structure designed for high earners.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short- & long-term disability coverage.
  • 401(k) with up to 4% company match (eligible after 90 days).
  • Up to 2 weeks PTO in your first year (eligible after 30 days) plus 9 recognized holidays.
  • Education reimbursement and continued professional development.
  • Up to 3 volunteer hours per month dedicated to community service.

If you want to build something of your own, represent a respected national brand, and control your earning potential — this is your opportunity. Apply today and start building your territory with Rasa Floors.
