Job description

The Building Engineer is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems, equipment, and infrastructure. This role involves troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, conducting preventative maintenance, coordinating service calls, escorting vendors on-site, and collaborating with contractors to ensure the facility remains safe, functional, and compliant with all regulations.

Pay:  $35.00 per hour - $38.00 per hour

Shift: Monday through Friday 9:30am-6pm.

10% Travel required. To other Phoenix Locations.

Education & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or technical certification in building systems preferred.

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in building engineering, facilities management, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building automation systems (BAS).

Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and energy efficiency practices.

Soft Skills:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong organizational and time-management abilities.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Certifications:

EPA Universal Certification for refrigerants (preferred).

Relevant trade licenses or certifications (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) are a plus.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Ability to walk up to 10,000 steps per day while performing job duties, including escorting vendors and conducting site inspections.

Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including confined spaces and rooftops.

Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Address and resolve building system malfunctions in a timely manner to minimize disruptions.

Respond to service requests and emergencies during and after business hours.

Schedule and coordinate service calls with internal teams and external vendors.

Facility Operations

Monitor building management systems (BMS) to optimize energy usage and system performance.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair history.

Escort vendors and contractors on-site, ensuring adherence to site protocols and safety requirements.

Project Support

Assist with capital improvement projects and renovations, providing technical input and oversight.

Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to schedule repairs and procure materials.

Participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures for facility operations.

Safety and Compliance

Conduct regular safety inspections and address hazards promptly.

Support emergency preparedness initiatives and conduct drills as required.

Adhere to OSHA, ADA, and other regulatory requirements.

Communication and Collaboration

Work closely with property management, tenants, and other stakeholders to address facility-related concerns.

Provide technical expertise and recommendations to management on system upgrades and improvements.
