Job Description
  • Primary Purpose: Direct and manage the district's transportation department to ensure safe, efficient, and costโ€‘effective transportation services for all eligible students. Provide leadership in planning, organizing, supervising, and evaluating all transportation operations while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Qualifications
  • Education/Certification:
    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Valid Texas driver's license
    • Texas Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred or ability to obtain
    • School Bus Driver Certification required or ability to obtain
    • Completion of required Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) school bus training
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in student transportation.
  • Special Knowledge and Skills:
    • Knowledge of Texas DPS school bus regulations
    • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations preferred
    • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and preventive maintenance programs preferred
    • Ability to supervise, train, and evaluate personnel preferred
    • Strong organizational and problemโ€‘solving skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to develop efficient bus routes preferred
    • Ability to respond effectively during emergencies
  • Position Type: Fullโ€‘Time
  • Job Requirements:
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
