CNC Machinist – Milling

Location: Brighton, MI Shift: 2nd (3:15 PM–11:45 PM), or 3rd (10:00 PM–6:30 AM) Pay: Based on Experience
Job Summary
Are you an experienced CNC Machinist looking for an opportunity to work in a precision job shop environment? We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist – Milling to join our team in Brighton, MI. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC milling machines to manufacture high-quality precision components while maintaining tight tolerances and meeting production goals.
What You'll Be Doing
As a CNC Machinist – Milling, your core responsibilities will include:
  • Set up, program, and operate CNC milling machines according to production requirements.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Program and adjust conversational controls directly at the machine (Mazak experience preferred).
  • Monitor machine operations and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards and customer specifications.
  • Perform tool changes, machine adjustments, and routine preventive maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Use precision measuring tools including calipers, micrometers, and indicators to verify part dimensions.
  • Utilize barcode scanning systems for inventory tracking and production reporting.
  • Organize and palletize finished products for storage or shipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment while following all company safety procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to resolve production issues.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you should have the following:
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of CNC milling experience in a job shop environment preferred.
  • Proven experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines.
  • Conversational programming experience required; Mazak experience preferred.
  • CNC Machining or Manufacturing Technology certification is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
Skills:
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and machining principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and indicators.
  • Familiarity with barcode scanning systems and production tracking.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
