Job description

Employee standards: To ensure high levels of hospitality every time you are in contact with guests. To be attentive to guest needs at all times. To be responsible for having a high level of product knowledge regarding all menu items which includes both liquor and all beverages.

Reports to: Primarily to Front of the House operations management with an equal standard of respect and professionalism to the BOH management team (chefs).

FSLA Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

Compensation: Minimum Wage Beverly Hills + % of the Tip Pool


PRIMARY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Barback is a key support role in the bar area, responsible for assisting bartenders in maintaining a clean and efficient environment. The ideal candidate will ensure the bar area is well-stocked, organized, and clean, allowing bartenders to focus on providing excellent customer service. The Barback must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong sense of urgency.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Stocking and Replenishing:

o Ensure the bar is fully stocked with all necessary supplies, including glassware, ice, garnishes, mixers, and alcoholic beverages.

o Replenish bar items throughout the shift as needed, including restocking liquor, beer, wine, and other beverages.

o Monitor inventory levels and communicate any shortages to the bartender or manager.

2. Cleaning and Maintenance:

o Keep the bar area, including countertops, sinks, floors, and storage areas, clean and organized at all times.

o Wash and polish glassware and bar tools, ensuring they are sanitized and ready for use.

o Remove empty bottles, cans, and trash from the bar area and dispose of them properly.

o Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization in the storage areas and coolers.

3. Support and Assistance:

o Assist bartenders with preparing drink garnishes, cutting fruits, and other prep work as needed.

o Help bartenders during busy periods by taking and delivering drink orders to guests.

o Provide support in handling cash and card transactions, if required.

o Offer excellent customer service by interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  1. Overtime when or as needed approved or directed by management
  2. Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling
  3. Working in an indoor/ outdoor location (subject to weather changes& varying temperatures)
  4. Lifting equipment up to 50 pounds (when necessary)
  5. Work in different spaces of the restaurant (mainly behind the bar area or open dining area)

ADDITIONAL REQUIRED FUNCTIONS:

  • Portrays a positive and professional attitude.
  • Always smiles and greets guests warmly and genuinely.
  • Works as part of a team.
  • Responsible for clearing, restocking, and resetting bar.
  • Executes closing procedures and side work.
  • Completes accurate closing financial paperwork.
  • Attends and participates in daily pre-shift meetings.
  • Communicate to management thoughts, comments, suggestions, and questions of daily operations, quality of food/beverages, guest comments, and daily specials.

Experience/Skills:

  • 1-2 years of beverage knowledge and bartending.
  • Previous hospitality experience preferred.

Qualifications:

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Excellent communication skills and a team-player attitude.

• Knowledge of basic bar setup and beverage preparation is a plus.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy items, such as kegs and cases of beverages.
