Summary
Provides advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Administers direct care to the patient of all age groups under the direction of an emergency medical physician, emergency physician's assistant, and emergency advanced registered nurse practitioner or utilizes approved EMS protocols if transporting a patient. Ensures adherence to hospital and department policies as well as paramedic scope of practice.

Baptist Health is looking for a Part-time, 2 days, 24 hours per week, day shift Paramedic to join our EMS transport team at Baptist Health Floyd, 1850 State St, New Albany, IN!
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides patient care within the medical director approved department protocols and state scope of practice.
  • Initiate's action to alleviate patient's stress and discomfort.
  • Recognizes, responds to, and communicates changes in patient condition appropriately.
  • Thoroughly and accurately completes all required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe for each patient encounter.
  • Provides care appropriate to the emergency population and maintains the environment of care.
  • Performs ambulance transportation services within the scope of practice of a Paramedic.
  • Sets priorities for the transport of multiple patients.
  • Assures resources and coordinates plan of delivery.
  • Organizes workload so there is effective utilization of time and resources.
  • Accurately completes required documentation and patient care reports within required timeframe.
  • Maintains knowledge and familiarity with each vehicle in fleet in order to operate smooth and safely.
  • Assures ambulance is clean, stocked and response ready at the beginning and end of every shift as well as prior to each and every request for service.
  • Ensures proper vehicle maintenance and equipment readiness as well as proper ALS gear readiness and utilization.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Active Paramedic license through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).
  • BLS certification.
  • PALS & ACLS certifications issued by AHA or ARC.
  • Other certifications and specialty training as required by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS).
  • Valid driver's license.
