Business Systems Manager (Workday/UKG), IS Administration, Baptist Health Medical Center
The Business Systems Manager (Workday/UKG/3rd Party Business Systems) oversees application strategies, operational support, and project initiatives across a portfolio of enterprise business systems, ensuring team performance and alignment with organizational goals. This role plans, manages, directs, and coordinates all activities necessary to maintain a stable, secure, and effective information environment that supports workforce operations, supply chain management, credentialing, administrative functions, finance, human resources, physical security, and other enterprise business services.
The Business Systems Manager provides leadership and oversight for critical business applications, including Workday, UKG Pro Workforce Management, Credentialing, Digital Document Management, Physical Security, and related administrative applications. This leader drives application optimization, innovation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives to support organizational objectives, operational excellence, workforce effectiveness, financial stewardship, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient care outcomes.
This position is responsible for managing application teams, prioritizing initiatives, allocating resources, and ensuring timely project execution while balancing operational support demands. The Business Systems Manager develops and implements policies, procedures, governance standards, and best practices that promote transparency, engagement, collaboration, and innovation in system design and service delivery. The role monitors application performance, reports critical issues and risks, facilitates strategic and operational planning discussions, and provides 24/7 leadership accountability for applications and systems within assigned areas of responsibility.
Business Systems Manager Responsibilities:
  • Oversees application strategies and project initiatives, ensuring team performance and alignment with business goals.
  • Plans, manages, directs, and coordinates all activities to ensure a stable information environment, efficient workflows, responsiveness to clinical, research, and educational operational needs, and optimization of applications to achieve enterprise goals for patient safety and quality health outcomes across the continuum.
  • Cost-effectively manages projects and analyst workloads to ensure timely implementation, effective resource utilization, and alignment with enterprise strategic and operational priorities.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures, and processes to support and facilitate transparency, engagement, collaboration, and innovation in system design.
  • Monitors maintenance related to specific applications and reports critical issues and needs to leadership.
  • Facilitates building, planning, problem-solving, and prioritization discussions with application teams, information technology specialists, clinicians, and leadership.
  • Manages operations through the development, monitoring, and achievement of goals and tactics that support consistent high-quality services and drive operations in alignment with strategic plans.
  • Develops, monitors, and manages the budget process.
  • Effectively utilizes organizational information systems and data related to operational management.
  • Develops and communicates ambitious performance measures with leadership to improve outcomes.
  • Complies with all departmental and organizational policies and procedures, in addition to regulatory requirements (such as OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, etc.), and participates in corporate and departmental safety and quality activities.

Business Systems Manager Experience:
  • Proven managerial experience in IS Applications (Workday and UKG required).
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage budgets and resources.
  • Excellent communication and strategic planning abilities.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in healthcare, healthcare operations, or information technology required.
  • Working knowledge of project management techniques, systems design, and analysis required.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience required.

Education and Certification Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification in relevant application and module preferred.
