Job description

Klausner & Company is a well-established CPA firm seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant – Tax to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review federal and state payroll tax filings, sales tax returns, information returns, and other required compliance filings
  • Prepare and review complex income tax returns for individuals, businesses, and not-for-profit entities
  • Provide proactive tax planning and advisory services to individual and business clients
  • Research and interpret federal and state tax regulations to ensure compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities
  • Collaborate with team members and assist in mentoring junior staff as needed
  • Manage multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or CPA-eligible preferred)
  • 3–6+ years of relevant public accounting experience, with a focus on taxation
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to apply accounting principles across a variety of client scenarios
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Experience with accounting software, particularly QuickBooks
