Job description

Purpose of Position: The Crop Insurance Specialist will be responsible for prospecting, cold calling, promoting and selling crop, dairy and livestock insurance. This position will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships and will be expected to cross-sell other bank products that fit the customer's needs.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of all livestock, dairy and crop insurance products and services to educate and sell services to customers/prospects.
  • Prospect quality new customer/client relationships, track and follow-up on prospecting efforts.
  • Review, analyze, evaluate and understand their crop insurance needs
  • Communicate with customers regarding insurance transactions and renewals
  • Communicate with AIPs on dairy and livestock specific products and processing
  • Goal of a book of business of 80 - 100 customers/ greater than $500,000 base premium
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to insurance customers, providing information and insight on livestock and crop insurance changes and new products
  • Gather and input all customer data/reports to insurance companies
  • Create and maintain customer files
  • Help prepare Fenceline newsletter
  • Plan annual crop insurance/Farm Focus update meetings
  • Cross-sell other bank products and services which fit the customers' needs.
  • Adhere to bank service level agreements, policies and regulations.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Adhere to all Bank Security/Compliance Regulations
  • Complete all annual bank security and compliance training
  • Adhere to Bank Security guidelines for Agriculture area.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customer information at all times.
  • Stay current on all compliance regulations required for the area and adhere to all associated guidelines.

Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in internal/external training as appropriate.
  • Participate in community involvement/bank activities as appropriate.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in agricultural related field
  • Active State of WI Property Insurance License or the ability to apply and qualify for a WI Property Insurance License or equivalent required licenses
  • Previous crop insurance or agriculture sales experience
  • Thorough knowledge of Crop and Livestock Insurance products/services and operations
  • Ability to effectively manage a sales pipeline to achievement of sales goals.
  • Knowledge of sales/CRM systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of banking products, services, policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to work in either an individual or a team sales environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written) in order to communicate and relate effectively with customers and associates
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work efficiently & accurately
  • Demonstrated ability in exercising independent judgment
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and remain calm while working in a fast paced/deadline driven environment
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, proficient typing/keyboarding skills and the ability and willingness to learn new programs and software
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a face-paced production environment
  • Ability to maintain confidential customer information
  • Ability to read, write, understand and speak English clearly
  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional, positive manner

Preferred Qualifications
  • Active State of WI Property Insurance License
  • 5+ years previous crop insurance or agriculture sales experience
  • Knowledge of other bank products
