Position Summary:

The Market President is responsible for the strategic management of the Bank’s Commercial Banking, Business Banking and Retail Banking functions for a specific geographical market. Developing strategic initiatives and goals related to commercial loan, small business lending and deposit portfolio soundness, profitability and growth. Responsible for leadership, motivation and coaching of commercial bankers, business bankers and banking center managers in order to achieve or exceed goals while developing talent for future success. Evaluating, analyzing and recommending approval of commercial and small business loans while seeking to minimize risk and maximize return for the bank. Responsible for strict adherence to compliance, audit and regulatory requirements.

This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related business field or 4 years of related experience

  • 15+ years of experience in the commercial lending field

  • 5 years of direct management of lending staff of meeting and exceeding established sales goals with proven past performance

  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking, commercial credit analysis and reporting of financial data

  • Strong understanding of commercial credit including underwriting, loan structuring, and loan pricing

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and grow business relationships

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to the institution’s privacy policies, regulatory and compliance guidelines

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Management:

  • Manage the Commercial Lending, Business Banking, SBA, and Retail Banking activities for a defined geographical market by providing vision and leadership in the development and achievement of annual strategic objectives

  • Serve as the senior commercial banking executive in the designated market and orchestrates Fidelity’s resources to execute on client acquisition and expansion strategies

  • Ensure the market achieves budgeted performance for earnings, asset quality and growth in core deposits, new client relationships, and non-interest income

  • Drive a consistent and differentiated client experience that positions Fidelity Bank as the premier advisory commercial bank in the local market

  • Develop and execute a focused marketing plan designed on growing new relationships and expanding existing client relationships

  • Responsible for budgeting, strategic planning, and continual process improvement

  • Contribute to the broader success of Fidelity and NOLA Lending by creating deep, profitable relationships

  • Chair the Officers’ Loan Committee in which large loan commitments are discussed and approved

  • Ensure alignment, integration and implementation of assigned market with the Bank’s overall strategic plan

Sales Management, Revenue Generation & Coaching:

  • Serve as the primary Sales Leader for a team of Commercial Relationship Managers, Business Bankers and Banking Center Managers ensuring the Fidelity Sales Culture and Processes are effectively communicated and executed

  • Assume responsibility for the profitability, quality, liquidity, and growth of the teams assigned commercial portfolios by ensuring effective and timely servicing of all client credit relationships

  • Guide Commercial Relationship Managers and Business Bankers in the negotiations of credit terms and pricing while recognizing the balance between the bank’s loan policy, pricing model and competition for quality commercial banking relationships

  • Manage portfolio growth to match the Bank’s strategic plan, while ensuring quality control, efficient processes, and quick turnaround through workflow management and cross training

  • Coach team on applying needs-based sales techniques to attract, expand and retain client relationships

  • Provide strong leadership and oversight of staff development including training program assignments, leadership development opportunities and regular department meetings/coaching

  • Drive a high-performance culture by creating a work environment that supports engagement, innovation, creativity, teamwork and diversity

  • Develop and execute sales strategies and calling efforts with regular follow-up and one-on-one coaching as needed

  • Leverage external networking opportunities and make introductions to other lines of business

  • Participate in activities related to new product development, product implementation and risk assessment, with respect to commercial loans, deposits, and treasury management

  • Partner with industry professionals and centers of influence to enhance working relationships

Soundness and Risk Management:

  • Ensure compliance and holds team accountable for adherence to the Bank’s lending program, policy and strategy

  • Exercise responsible use of loan authority as defined by policy

  • Exercise responsible use of pricing exceptions when warranted

  • Manage credit risk through sound lending principals and loss mitigation efforts

  • Assess analysis utilized in making credit decisions and participates in team credit decisions including second review

  • Participate in discussions and recommendations for loan policy updates

  • Responsible for making recommendations for problem loans within the commercial portfolio

  • Provide an overview of results and presents emerging trends for review/discussion to the Board on a regular basis

  • Comply with company policies and banking regulations including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, US Patriot Act, and OFAC aided by successful completion of ongoing training activities

Community Leadership:

  • Take a high visibility, leadership role in the local community by participating in local business, civic, and charitable organizations

  • Actively participate in Bank sponsored/hosted events

  • Represent Fidelity on high impact high visibility Boards

  • Lead volunteerism and community efforts within the local community

  • Work with Marketing Department to coordinate and drive all media and visibility opportunities

  • Ensure funds supporting non-profit organizations and philanthropic effort are aligned with corporate giving strategies

  • Effectively leverage events for business development and brand awareness purposes

  • Actively exhibit Fidelity’s “Community” Core Value

Other:

  • Management duties to include: timecard reviews/approvals, setting work schedules/managing overtime, participating in the hiring process for direct report openings, fostering professional development of direct reports, conducting mid-year and annual performance evaluations, coaching associates through the disciplinary process and ensuring team adherence to company policies and procedures
