What does a bank teller do?

Bank tellers are responsible for handling customer financial transactions like deposits, withdrawals, transfers, money orders, and checking. Since bank tellers handle most transactions, they are often the first to notice and stop frauds like counterfeit money or identity theft. A bank teller may count cash, answer phones, file deposit slips and paperwork, manage ATM deposits, collect payments, provide balances and account information, resolve customer issues, and balance the vault and cash drawers at the end of the day.
