Overview:
The Wilmington Trust Institutional Services (IS) division is experiencing rapid business growth and has initiated a strategic program of continuous improvement to support the growth objectives. The goals of the program are to reduce operational issues and risks by standardizing processes, implementing best practices in key areas, and adding new governance and control functions. In addition, long term digital transformation is required to grow revenue through new and transformed digital-first trust and agency service products, to move from a product-centric to client-centric operating model, to move from market-specific to global solutions, and to dramatically lower the cost to serve. These two strategic focus areas are driving growth in overall business investment.
Job Summary:
In alignment with the business strategy, we are seeking an entrepreneurial and highly analytical Lead IS Automation Quality Control Analyst to ensure the efficient execution of Admin Agent capabilities and high-quality business processes that deliver software products to the Bank's Institutional Services (IS) customers through the design, development and execution of automated test scripts. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify test scenarios, implement automation frameworks, and detect and report software defects to support the software development lifecycle. Reporting to the QA Manager to support Loan Agency, you will be responsible for defining and executing the manual & automation testing for core capabilities such as deal and lender setup, trade processing, loan lifecycle servicing, cash flow management, and reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and maintain scalable and robust automation frameworks (UI (User Interface), API (Application Programming Interface) and performance.
  • Define and implement the overall test automation strategy, including tooling, scripting, and architecture decisions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reusable test harness frameworks to support automated validation of complex workflows, enabling efficient execution, scalability, and traceability across UI, API, and integration layers. Ensure harnesses support modular test design, data-driven execution, and seamless integration with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement new testing tools and technologies; explore ways to improve testing efficiency and coverage through AI-assisted tools and practices.
  • Collaborate with Development teams to understand system architecture and implementation; collaborate with Product Owner team by engaging in regular sprint planning and backlog grooming sessions to understand product requirements and acceptance criteria, translating them into comprehensive test automation strategies that ensure coverage of both functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers to integrate automated tests into CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) pipelines using pertinent tools ensuring seamless and efficient test execution throughout the development life cycle.
  • Review code and test scripts to ensure quality, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Drive test data strategy and environment management for automation needs.
  • Contributes to performance, security and load testing strategy and implementation.
  • Continuously monitor and improve test automation metrics and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
  • Publish automation test execution status report with traceability of test coverage at feature level and communicate it to stakeholders to ensure their awareness of progress and identify any issues upfront.
  • Solve complex technical and operational problems. Serve as a resource for less experienced teammates.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Hands-on experience with fat client (thick client) application testing is required, including complex UI, local processing, and integration validation.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 3 years' software quality assurance and control experience with creation and maintenance of test scripts for desktop/web applications/API/webservices testing and a minimum of 2 years' in a test automation architect or similar role, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 7 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 3 years' software quality assurance and control experience with creation and maintenance of test scripts for desktop/web applications/API/webservices testing and a minimum of 2 years' in a test automation architect or similar role
Strong programming skills in one or more pertinent languages
Hands-on experience with modern pertinent automation frameworks
Sound understanding of quality control methodologies, tools, and processes
Sound knowledge of agile development methodologies and Development Operations practices
Familiarity with pertinent defect tracking systems
Strong problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education and Experience Preferred:
Minimum of 8 years' software quality assurance and control experience
Experience in testing cloud-based applications and APIs ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) or similar QA certification

Exposure to security testing practices and tools
Strong domain expertise in Loan IQ and related integrations, supporting deal and facility setup, trade processing, loan lifecycle servicing, and cash flow operations.
Exposure to fintech platforms and emerging technologies, with a solid understanding of modern digital ecosystems and integration patterns.
Exposure to AI concepts and tools (e.g., AI-assisted testing, test data generation, intelligent automation) is highly preferred, with the ability to apply AI-driven approaches to improve QA efficiency and coverage.
Experience with RightClick automation tool, including test script development, execution, and maintenance for complex enterprise applications is preferred.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $82,100.00 - $136,900.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate's particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
