Merchants Bank is expanding its analytics capability in supporting multifamily lending (MCC) and enterprise reporting requirements. We are seeking a Data Analyst with strong technical proficiency in Power BI, semantic modeling, SQL, and Python/PySpark.


This role focuses on developing analytical data models and reporting assets that sit on top of enterprise data platforms. The Data Analyst will work primarily within Microsoft Fabric to query, model, validate, and present data through scalable Power BI semantic models and reports.



As our Data Analyst, you will know you are successful if you can do the following confidently and independently...

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports using data sourced from Microsoft Fabric.
  • Develop and manage Power BI semantic models, including table relationships, DAX measures, calculated columns, and aggregations.
  • Write and optimize Fabric PySpark Notebooks for transformation, advanced analysis, data exploration, automation, and validation workflows.
  • Utilize Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Notebooks) to explore, analyze, and transform data for analytical consumption.
  • Implement and maintain data validation and reconciliation logic to ensure accuracy and consistency of analytical outputs.
  • Ability to understand and help support data integrations for pulling new data sources into Microsoft Fabric for reporting and analysis purposes.
  • Perform data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks to ensure accuracy of loan, portfolio, and performance reporting.
  • Troubleshoot data issues across semantic models, reports, and source datasets.
  • Maintain technical documentation covering datasets, KPIs, DAX logic, and semantic definitions.
  • Adhere to enterprise standards for data modeling, naming conventions, and analytics best practices.

 What we are looking for...

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in data analytics, information systems, finance, business analytics, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics role.
  • Strong experience with Power BI, including report development and semantic (dataset) modeling.
  • Solid working knowledge of SQL for querying and transforming analytical datasets.
  • Experience using Microsoft Fabric or similar modern analytics platforms.
  • Proficiency in Excel for analysis, validation, and stakeholder-facing deliverables.
  • Working knowledge of Python/PySpark for data analysis and automation.
  • Ability to work with large, complex datasets and identify data quality or modeling issues.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience analyzing multifamily lending, mortgage, or real estate finance datasets.
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts (star schema, dimensions, facts, measures).
  • Experience supporting executive, finance, or portfolio reporting.
  • Understanding of data governance, metric standardization, and reporting best practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data integrations and working with APIs or import files
