Job description

Summary: Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager the Blood Bank Supervisor performs all testing performed in the Blood Band including various procedures in ABO Compatibility testing, antibody detection and identification and serology. The Blood Bank Supervisor is responsible for all department policy and procedure, training of employees, staffing and ongoing technical competency assessment. Must meet per diem requirements set forth by business.
Education: BS, MT (ASCP); ASCP Certification eligible required.
Licensure: None
Experience: A minimum of 5 years directly related experience. Proficient in the use of various software applications is required.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Has the ability to operate laboratory equipment (i.e. pipettes, test tubes, inoculating loops) and adjust instruments to perform laboratory procedures.
  • Is able to use an electronic keyboard to operate laboratory instruments and to calculate, record, evaluate and transmit laboratory information.
  • Has skills in organization and priority setting.
  • Has the ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines.
  • Is able to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers.
  • Is able to lead and train employees
