Position Overview:

The CommercialBanker III is responsible for developing and acquiring new, profitablerelationships and maintaining existing ones. This role evaluates, negotiates,and monitors credits to maximize earnings for the bank. Utilizing businessdevelopment tactics, including Business Development by Design, CRM, andscorecards, this position drives individual activities and production goals.The Commercial Banker III reports to the Commercial Banking Manager orCommercial Banking Team Lead.  This rolerepresents the bank in the community, increasing overall awareness of BroadwayBank and projecting a positive image of the bank as a stable, sound,profitable, innovative, and modern financial institution. Focus is placed ontop-tier clientele with high profit potential, specifically targeting businessclients with revenues in excess of 1MM and borrowing needs in excess of 500M.
A strongunderstanding of the bank's credit policy and expertise in financial statementanalysis is essential. This role utilizes overall financial and business acumento provide sound, comprehensive solutions to clients and centers of influence.Additionally, the role seeks opportunities to develop expertise in core bankingproducts while maintaining an excellent team of referral partners acrossvarious lines of business.

Essential Functions: 

  • Delivers strong revenue and profit growth within the Commercial Banking line of business through the acquisition of new relationships and the expansion of existing relationships in the form of new loans, deposits, treasury services, and other approved bank products.
  • Follows all lending policies, procedures, and applicable laws to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the commercial loan function.
  • Initiates and cultivates new loan relationships through Business Development by Design & CRM, including calls, visits, and community involvement.
  • Analyzes, approves or refers commercial loans by interviewing applicants to develop financial and credit information, define banking needs, assess management abilities, analyze financial strength, and determine risk.
  • Ensures complete analysis of all financial, industry, and management information.
    Evaluates and structures credit terms in accordance with lending policies.
  • Prepares, presents, and recommends loan requests to the appropriate loan approval process.
  • Ensures proper loan documentation is prepared and reviewed.
  • Maintains periodic contact with customers to determine banking needs, financial trends, changes in the organization or industry, and general goodwill.
  • Cross-sells new and existing products and services to customers.
  • Evaluates and structures credit requests in accordance with lending policies.
  • Examines and determines appropriate actions for overdrafts, past due payments, collateral, and credit exceptions.
  • Seeks out membership in high-profile, community-minded organizations and actively participates in the bank's marketing programs, community projects, and other organizations.
  • Attends Senior Officers' Loan Committee Meeting as a non-voting member, Directors' Loan Committee, and other necessary meetings.
  • Engages in managing and monitoring nonperforming loans to reduce the potential losses. 
  • Establishes and/or maintains primary contact relationships with targeted customers to maximize the lifetime value of these key relationships.
  • Provides a full range of financial/banking services to customers with the assistance of appropriate partners throughout the organization.
  • Builds loyalty and drives profitable revenue growth by applying key customer relationship management principles.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as directed.
  • This position may require travel within the Bank's geographic area.
