Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of clients' mental health and substance use issues using validated tools, focusing specifically on identifying co-occurring disorders.
• Collaborate with clients to create individualized treatment plans that integrate both evidence-based mental health care and substance use interventions to enhance recovery outcomes.
• Provide both individual and group therapy sessions, employing techniques that foster emotional resilience, coping strategies, and relapse prevention methods.
• Engage in case coordination with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurses, and addiction specialists, ensuring that treatment is comprehensive and cohesive.
• Perform regular substance use monitoring and implement motivational interviewing techniques to reinforce positive behaviors and support client self-efficacy.
• Educate clients and their families about the relationship between mental health and substance use disorders, emphasizing the critical importance of consistent treatment adherence.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of treatment progress and interventions, complying with ethical and legal standards.
• Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including case conferences, trainings, and staff meetings focused on advancements in the treatment of co-occurring disorders.

Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with clients who present with both mental health issues and substance use disorders, a demographic that often requires nuanced understanding and specialized treatment approaches. Individuals may range from those newly diagnosed to those with chronic challenges, all seeking pathways to recovery and improved overall well-being.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure as LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the state of Oregon.
• Demonstrated proficiency in evidence-based therapies specifically designed for co-occurring disorders, including Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
• In-depth understanding of the complexities surrounding the interaction between mental health and substance use.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration within a multidisciplinary team framework.

Preferred Experience

• A minimum of two years of clinical experience in mental health counseling or therapy.
• Experience in providing telehealth services is highly desirable, particularly familiarity with online counseling platforms.
• Previous work with clients facing co-occurring disorders is a significant advantage, enhancing the impact of treatment interventions.
