Bakery Sous Chef / Production Lead

Fern & Aurora Bakery is seeking an experienced and dependable Bakery Sous Chef / Production Lead to help oversee daily production and support the growth of our small-batch Filipino-inspired bakery in Little Neck, Queens.

This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about baking, takes pride in organization and consistency, and is ready to lead a small team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead daily bakery production and ensure products meet quality standards

  • Assist with scheduling and delegation of daily tasks

  • Manage ingredient inventory and communicate ordering needs

  • Train, mentor, and support bakers and kitchen staff

  • Ensure recipes and procedures are followed consistently

  • Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and health department standards

  • Assist with menu development and seasonal specials

  • Organize production schedules for retail, wholesale, and special events

  • Open and close the bakery as needed

  • Support both front and back-of-house operations when necessary

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of professional bakery or pastry experience required

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and lead a team

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

  • Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented
