At Festival Foods, our Cake Decorators bring artistry and imagination to life, creating beautiful and uniquely decorated bakery items that leave lasting impressions on our guests.

Our bakery plays a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable experiences for guests' events and everyday moments alike, ranging from special occasions to everyday indulgences.

Under the guidance of the Bakery Manager, the Bakery Lead Cake Decorator plays a pivotal role in ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for guests through training new cake decorators, achieving department goals, and decorating items. 

External Job DescriptionWhat You'll Do:
  • Teach, Guide & Support: Reinforce Festival culture, guest service, and performance expectations to all Cake Decorators.
  • Training & Development: Train new Cake Decorators and provide ongoing guidance and support.
  • Scheduling & Reviews: Prepare weekly work schedules for Cake Decorators, write and conduct performance reviews, and address any violations of company policies by documenting and advising on corrective actions.
  • Guest Service: Provide excellent service to all guests by assisting with finding items, taking special orders, and packaging and pricing items from the service case.
  • Operational Excellence: Observe and address sales floor and back stock conditions, communicate with the Department Manager and other bakery associates to maintain standards, and ensure department goals are met.
  • Product Handling: Assist Cake Decorators with topping, finishing, and decorating bakery products, as well as maintaining inventory levels of supplies such as packaging, icing, and decorative accents.
  • Cleanliness & Safety: Contribute to the overall cleanliness of the department by organizing and cleaning work areas and shelves. Maintain food safety logs and adhere to quality standards, including meeting quantity expectations by 10 am and 5 pm.
  • Communication: Answer questions from Bakery department associates and assist with telephone inquiries using proper etiquette.
  • Honor Commitments: Regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule, and adequate notice to find a replacement for occasional absences
  • Support the Team: Other duties as assigned.

  • Decision-Making: Knowledge of retail food business operations, perishable department management, and merchandising skills, with the ability to make timely and effective decisions.
  • Artistic Talent: A strong artistic sense and the ability to create visually appealing and creative bakery items.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to interact effectively with guests and understand their needs.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure products are decorated beautifully and meet quality standards.

Work Schedule:

The Bakery Lead Cake Decorator is a full-time position. The work schedule will generally include mornings, afternoons, and weekends, with the flexibility to work evenings and holidays as needed.

In this role, you'll be the creative force behind our bakery's beautiful and delicious cake creations, ensuring top-notch food service and an exceptional guest experience, whether you're decorating cakes, conducting bakery operations, or leading the cake decorator team.
