Position Overview:
This is a hands-on position and will require the individual to complete testing of controls of all new and existing electrical control and safety systems in the plant and all external buildings within the campus. PLC troubleshooting of new and existing PLC systems will be accomplished by this individual, as well as maintaining existing alarm systems.
This individual will be responsible for contributing to a consistent, safe, and productive work environment through participation in corporate programs, and adhering to operational and personnel policies and procedures. With a focus on the success of the overall operation, the individual will work closely with the production and quality teams to handle emergency repairs while coordinating and executing scheduled maintenance activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and troubleshoot VFD systems within the plant
  • Work closely with the maintenance team/manager on shift for conduit and wiring changes and installations.
  • Troubleshoot all PLC systems.
  • Implement all control system changes and follow through to completion.
  • Work closely with the maintenance team on MIG, TIG welding projects as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all conveyor stems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all pneumatic systems and controls.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain all hydraulic systems and controls.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot existing alarm systems including severe weather and fire.
  • Other duties as assigned.
General Responsibilities:
  • Promote all plant safety, GMP's and food safety policies and procedures
  • Performs mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Regularly inspect plant equipment, production support systems and to support effective plant operations.
  • Contribute to an effective, predictive, and preventative maintenance program (including repair, modification, and installation of equipment) to improve production efficiency and ensure optimum machine time availability.
Education & Experience:
  • Apprentice Electrician with 2-4 years or industrial electrical experience.
  • Understanding of Programmable Logic Control (PLC) and VFD's.
  • Technical Certification/experience in Electro-Mechanic Technician, or related field.
  • Strong mechanic background in manufacturing.
  • Experience in a food production or bakery environment a plus.
  • Reading and understanding wiring schematics, HVAC systems, electrical, hydraulics, and welding.
  • Proficiency in equipment evaluation, installation, maintenance, and repair.
Communication Skills:
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language to communicate well.
Other Skills:
  • Computer skills, knowledge, or Microsoft Office
  • Good Mechanical skills
Physical Requirements/Environment:
  • Stand/Walking: Continuously (6-8 hours or more)
  • Grasp: Continuously (6-8 hours or more)
  • Pull/Push: Occasionally
  • Lift/Carry: Continuously/Frequently up to 50lbs.
  • Physical Environment: Continuously - work around moving machinery, working in a temperature controlled 75-degree environment.
