Job Summary
The Baker will be responsible for modeling and promoting Sendik's culture by consistently providing "best in class" service to our guests. The Baker is responsible for preparing, proofing and baking quality products, using a production schedule to ensure the correct quantity and type of product is baked to meet department needs. The Baker is responsible for tracking inventory and ordering supplies for the department.

Work Experience
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Serve customers in the Bakery Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their business
  • Prepare, proof and bake products for the bakery case and sales floor including, but not limited to, breads, rolls, donuts and muffins, while ensuring quality of product meets company standards
  • Apply toppings such as icing, glaze and seeds to baked products
  • Measure and mix ingredients in accordance with recipes
  • Develop and follow a daily production schedule to ensure the department is prepared for the following day
  • Track department inventory to ensure the correct quantity and variety of product is baked
  • Operate, maintain and clean baking equipment including ovens, proofers, knives and mixers
  • Assist Department Manager in preparing and placing orders
  • Package and price various bakery items
  • Organize and store bakery supplies in designated areas
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Bakery Department
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures
  • Assist with all other Bakery Department duties as needed

Qualifications:
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Bakery equipment
  • Prior baking experience preferred
  • Excellent time management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work at a fast paced and efficient manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong team player attitude - ability to anticipate the needs of the team
  • Ability to take initiative and make decisions independently regarding department needs and priorities, under limited supervision
