Geriatrician - Dementia & Cognitive Disorders | Full-time
Banner Alzheimer's Institute | Phoenix, Arizona
Banner Alzheimer's Institute (BAI) is seeking a BC/BE Geriatrician with an interest in dementia and cognitive disorders to join our interdisciplinary memory disorders practice in Phoenix, Arizona.
This is an opportunity to practice geriatric medicine within a highly specialized environment dedicated to the evaluation, treatment, and longitudinal care of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The geriatrician will work collaboratively with cognitive neurologists, advanced practice providers, neuropsychologists, social workers, nurses, and other members of the dementia care team to provide comprehensive, patient- and family-centered care.
The position is particularly well suited for a geriatrician interested in the intersection of cognitive disorders, complex medical comorbidity, polypharmacy, frailty, falls, neuropsychiatric symptoms, caregiver needs, and healthy brain aging .
Qualifications
Required
  • BC/BE in Geriatric Medicine
  • Strong interest in the evaluation and management of dementia and cognitive disorders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary care
Preferred
  • Experience caring for patients with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias
  • Experience in a multidisciplinary memory or cognitive disorders clinic
  • Clinical research and/or industry-sponsored clinical trial experience
Formal subspecialty training in cognitive disorders is not required.
Banner Alzheimer's Institute (BAI) is an internationally recognized center dedicated to advancing the care, treatment, and prevention of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. Located in Phoenix, Arizona, BAI integrates comprehensive clinical care, advanced diagnostics, disease-modifying therapies, clinical trials, and extensive support services for patients and families within a single, cohesive program.
BAI is a key partner in the Arizona Alzheimer's Disease Research Center , one of the Alzheimer's Disease Research Centers funded by the National Institute on Aging and collaborates with academic and research partners across Arizona and nationally. Research spans Alzheimer's prevention, biomarkers, neuroimaging, therapeutic development, and clinical trials, supported by the NIH, industry partners, and philanthropic organizations.
Physicians joining BAI have access to a full suite of specialized resources, including:
  • An interdisciplinary team of cognitive neurologists, advanced practice providers, neuropsychologists, social workers, nurses, and experienced clinical support staff
  • Comprehensive cognitive and neurobehavioral assessment
  • On-site MRI and PET imaging with biomarker-based diagnostic evaluation
  • A dedicated disease-modifying therapy program
  • Individual, family, and group counseling and caregiver support
  • Community outreach and education programs
The Institute's model is designed to address not only cognitive symptoms, but also the medical, behavioral, functional, and psychosocial challenges that accompany dementia.
