Job Title: Baggage Opener
Department: Operations
Reports To: Baggage Production Supervisor
Primary Function
Efficiently process inventory received from our partners by sorting, inspecting, and preparing merchandise for further handling, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness.
Key Responsibilities
Sorting & Inspection
  • Sort through bags and boxes, categorizing items into designated groups:

  • Sporting goods, Tools

  • Apparel, New/Clean, Dirty

  • Electronics

  • Purses/Wallets/Belts - New/Clean, Dirty

  • Miscellaneous items

  • Inspect products for damage and perform light cleaning before placing them in the appropriate bins.

Clothing Processing
  • Identify whether apparel needs to be hung, washed, or dry cleaned and place items accordingly in laundry buggies or carts.

  • Maintain awareness of fashion trends and designer brands to improve sorting accuracy.

  • Place two-piece garments in a garment bag before sending them to laundry processing.

Inventory Management & Quality Control
  • Maintain accurate load numbers on all products being processed.

  • Ensure high-quality standards for all merchandise.

  • Remove any personal identification from products before processing.

  • Properly dispose of non-sellable items in designated areas.

Restricted & Specialty Items Handling
  • Place prescription medications, illegal substances, or unidentified powders in the designated drug bin.

  • Immediately secure and report any found money in the designated lockboxes, informing the supervisor of significant finds.

Processing & Performance Tracking
  • Maintain separate processing times for each load and record them accurately on paperwork.
