Vectorworks Designer / CAD Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and creative Vectorworks Designer / CAD Manager to support the design and execution of live events, corporate meetings, conventions, exhibitions, and experiential environments.
This role is responsible for developing high-quality 2D and 3D technical drawings, event layouts, and production packages that help bring creative concepts to life. The ideal candidate combines strong Vectorworks Spotlight drafting skills with an understanding of live event production workflows, staging, scenic integration, and venue operations.
This position works closely with Creative Directors, Producers, Technical Directors, Project Managers, and Fabrication teams to create accurate, buildable, and visually compelling drawing packages for live experiences.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is passionate about turning ideas into real-world event environments.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D technical drawings for live events, including:
    • General session layouts
    • Seating plans
    • Stage configurations
    • Scenic environments
    • Registration and exhibit layouts
    • Production and backstage areas
    • Rigging and technical coordination drawings
  • Develop accurate, organized, and presentation-quality drawing packages using Vectorworks Spotlight
  • Collaborate with Creative Teams, Producers, Technical Directors, and clients to translate creative concepts into functional event environments
  • Produce technical packages that support fabrication, production, and onsite execution
  • Maintain CAD standards, templates, symbol libraries, and file organization systems across the organization
  • Coordinate drawing revisions and updates throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure layouts comply with venue regulations, ADA requirements, and fire code safety standards
  • Support production teams with accurate technical documentation for fabrication and onsite execution
  • Stay current on industry trends, software advancements, and live event technologies

Qualifications Required Experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience in live events, theater, AV production, experiential marketing, or entertainment design
  • Advanced proficiency in Vectorworks Spotlight
  • Strong portfolio showcasing event layouts, technical drawing packages, and production design work
  • Experience working in fast-paced production or event environments

Preferred Skills
  • Experience with rendering and visualization tools such as:
