We're looking for an experienced backend engineer to help modernize the architecture of our search platform. You'll help transform a large Java-based codebase into independently deployable services, enabling clearer ownership across engineering teams, simplifying deployments and operations, and laying the foundation for the next generation of AI-driven and agentic search experiences.

Our platform consists of distributed Java services running across client infrastructure and AWS that power search, retrieval, and AI-driven experiences. To support the next generation of AI-powered and agentic search, we are componentizing our search pipeline into independently deployable services with well-defined interfaces. This architecture enables greater flexibility, reuse, and experimentation while allowing teams to innovate and deploy independently.
 
We will trust you to:
 
Work alongside our senior engineers to design and build the next generation of our search platform architecture.
 
Design scalable, maintainable services with clear ownership boundaries and well-defined APIs.
 
Improve deployment, release, and operational processes to enable teams to develop and ship independently.
 
Collaborate across multiple engineering teams to plan and execute incremental platform migrations with minimal disruption.
 
Take ownership of technical solutions from design and implementation through production deployment and support.
 
You’ll need to have:
5+ years of professional software engineering experience developing backend systems using Java
 
A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a similar field of study, or equivalent work experience.
 
Experience architecting scalable, distributed systems using industry best practices.
 
Experience collaborating across multiple engineering teams to deliver complex technical initiatives.
 
Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
