Job description

We are seeking a Backend Support Software Developer for a fully onsite role with high visibility, working in direct support of the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).
The position focuses on enhancing existing code, integrating backend solutions, and ensuring mission systems remain secure, scalable, and reliable. The developer will work closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex technical challenges, support incident response, and drive continual system improvements that enable safe and effective aeronautical navigation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues involving REST APIs, databases, and applications.
- Develop, enhance, and document backend functionality within GitLab repositories using DevOps practices.
- Collaborate with Agile teams in sprint planning, standups, and testing activities using Atlassian tools (Jira/Confluence).
- Apply expertise in Python, C#, and/or Java to deliver scalable backend solutions.
- Contribute to system development for analytics, exploitation, production, and dissemination using cloud, SOA, web services, and virtualization technologies.
- Support and enhance incident response procedures, ensuring quick turnaround for operational stability.
- Integrate open-source and GOTS solutions into enterprise systems.
- Plan and prioritize development tasks, delivering results aligned with User Story Acceptance Criteria.
- Apply cloud computing knowledge to modify backend systems and APIs for visualization and data filtering.

Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree with 8+ years relevant experience or Master's degree with 6+ years.
- Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI post-hire.
- DoD 8570 compliance (Security+ or higher).
- 3+ years of experience in Python and C#/Java frameworks.
- 4+ years with unit testing, CI/CD tools, and GitLab.
- Strong experience troubleshooting REST APIs, backend databases, and distributed applications.
- Familiarity with Agile/DevOps best practices and experience supporting iterative testing.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

- Linux and/or Windows system administration experience.
- Familiarity with DoD Aeronautical Datasets.
- Experience with AWS CloudFormation templates and cloud-based deployments.
- Exposure to Node, NPM, REST API development, and Swashbuckle.
- DevOps or C# Developer certifications.
- Strong technical documentation skills and proven ability to collaborate across technical teams.
