Backend Engineer Location: New York, NY .
Job Type: ContractRole Overview

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, cloud-native backend services. The ideal candidate has strong experience building Python-based applications, designing APIs, and developing microservices deployed on AWS. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance backend solutions.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python.
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-native microservices on AWS Lambda.
  • Design scalable, reliable, and secure microservice architectures.
  • Design and integrate relational and NoSQL databases.
  • Implement automated testing and participate in CI/CD pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.
  • Troubleshoot, optimize, and improve application performance and reliability.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience with Python application development.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing REST APIs.
  • Experience building serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture.
  • Experience with database design, integration, and optimization.
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience working with:
    • Aurora PostgreSQL
    • DynamoDB
    • Liquibase
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building cloud-native backend services.
  • Experience working in AWS-based production environments.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code and cloud deployment best practices.
