Looking for a skilled Engineering Manager to join our engineering team, with a focus on leading backend development while collaborating closely with frontend engineers. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Python, PostgreSQL and system design, with a proven ability to architect efficient back-end systems and mentor engineers. This role requires a passion for delivering high-quality, user-centric products and a commitment to driving operational excellence through collaborative, scalable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of frontend and backend engineers, with a primary focus on driving backend system design, architecture, database development, API optimization, and overall backend performance

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems and APIs, ensuring they align with product requirements

  • Collaborate with product managers, stakeholders, and frontend teams to define technical requirements and deliver high-quality, integrated solutions

  • Drive operational excellence by overseeing code quality, conducting code reviews, ensuring robust quality assurance processes, and actively monitoring production systems

  • Foster a culture of mentorship and continuous learning by guiding junior engineers, reviewing their work, and helping them grow technically and professionally

  • Champion the use of best practices in backend development, including database design, API development, and distributed system architecture

  • Manage and prioritize tasks within an Agile team, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with project goals and milestones

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of backend and frontend systems, optimizing the overall user experience

  • Take an active role in driving innovation, improving system performance, and scaling backend infrastructure to meet growing business needs

Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field

  • 8+ years of backend development experience with at least 2 years in a senior or lead position

  • Expertise in one of the programming languages (Python, Java or Go)

  • Strong understanding of database like PostgreSQL and building RESTful APIs

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.

  • Strong architectural and systems thinking, especially in distributed systems

  • Experience with Linux, cloud platforms (AWS), and containerization (Docker)
