Saint Francis Hospital, a member of Trinity Health Of New England, is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) for our Neuroscience Unit.

In this leadership role, you will support the day-to-day clinical and operational functions of a specialized inpatient unit caring for patients with acute neurological and neurosurgical conditions, including stroke, seizure disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and other complex neuroscience diagnoses.

The Assistant Nurse Manager partners with the Nurse Manager to drive clinical excellence, staff engagement, patient safety, and quality outcomes while fostering a collaborative, patient-centered, and mission-driven environment.

What You'll Do
  • Full-time: 40 hours per week; mixed/varied schedule based on unit needs.

  • Support daily operations of a busy inpatient Neuroscience Unit.

  • Supervise and mentor charge nurses and frontline nursing staff.

  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, patient assignments, and patient throughput.

  • Promote a culture of patient safety, evidence-based practice, and accountability.

  • Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, DPH, and Trinity Health standards.

  • Support staff development, coaching, performance management, and succession planning.

  • Lead and participate in quality improvement, stroke care, and patient experience initiatives.

  • Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, hospitalists, rehabilitation specialists, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Serve as a visible, hands-on leader during assigned shifts.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license - Connecticut.

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

  • Minimum 2-3 years of acute care nursing experience.

Preferred

  • Prior leadership, charge nurse, or supervisory experience.

  • Experience in neuroscience, stroke care, neurology, neurosurgery, telemetry, or acute care nursing.

  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or enrollment in an MSN program.

  • Specialty certification such as SCRN (Stroke Certified Registered Nurse), CNRN (Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse), PCCN, or nursing leadership certification.
