Company Description
Who We Are
City Academy of Atlanta is a Christ-centered hybrid homeschool community serving families in the Atlanta area. Our mission is to glorify God by educating children to think, believe, and live biblically. We partner with parents to provide an academically rich education rooted in a biblical worldview while cultivating wisdom, character, and faith in every student.
What We Do
City Academy blends on-campus learning with guided home instruction through a unique hybrid model. Students attend classes on campus several days each week and continue their learning at home using lesson plans and support from our teachers. Our curriculum integrates faith and learning across all subjects while encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and joyful discovery.
What It's Like to Work Here
Working at City Academy means joining a mission-driven community that is passionate about Christian education and discipleship. Our faculty and staff partner closely with families, collaborate with one another, and invest deeply in the spiritual and academic development of students. Together, we seek to equip the next generation to love God, pursue truth, and live lives of purpose and service.
Job Description
City Academy of Atlanta is seeking a warm, wise, and mission-driven math educator to teach 7th - 9th Grade Teacher Mathematics (Illustrative Mathematics curriculum) and Algebra I (Discovering Algebra curriculum). The ideal candidate will be deeply committed to nurturing students' growth in wisdom and skill - helping them see mathematics not only as a tool for problem-solving, but as a window into the beauty, logic, and order of God's creation.
Aligned with our Evergreen Educational Framework, this teacher will design and deliver instruction that is conceptually rich, developmentally appropriate, and rooted in relational discipleship. Instruction should be centered on deep understanding over memorization, supporting students in becoming clear thinkers, joyful problem solvers, and thoughtful stewards of their intellectual gifts.
Key responsibilities of the 7th - 9th Grade (Mathematics) Teacher include but are not limited to:
  • Teach 7th Grade Math using Illustrative Mathematics curriculum
  • Teach Algebra I to 8th and 9th grade students using Discovering Algebra
  • Differentiate instruction to meet students' developmental and mathematical needs
  • Integrate the Evergreen Framework's vertical (God, others, created world) and horizontal (Seeds to Mature Plant) lenses (you will receive training on this)
  • Build a classroom culture that values humility, curiosity, perseverance, and mutual care
  • Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to support integrated learning experiences
  • Participate in faculty discipleship, professional development, and community events

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or education, or relevant work or educational experience
  • Deep understanding of mathematical thinking
  • Eagerness to work in a covenant Christian community
  • Commitment to partnering with parents and honoring the God-given design of each child
  • Agreement with City Academy's Statement of Faith and educational philosophy
  • Active Christian faith aligned with City Academy's Testimony and Lifestyle Statement

Teaching Schedule
  • On-campus teaching: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45AM - 3:00PM

Desired Attributes
  • Values formation over performance
  • Honors developmental readiness
  • Partners with parents as co-cultivators
  • Loves children's literature
  • Sees teaching as both discipleship and academic excellence
