Job description

Mental Health Technician

Mental Health Technicians are direct patient care providers that deliver nursing care to patients with varying psychiatric, behavioral, and mental health diagnoses, ensuring their safety and continued care.

MHA Responsibilities include:

  • Mental Health Technicians are direct patient care providers responsible for positive role modeling, crisis intervention, facilitation of group activities and patient safety
  • Basic care activities such as taking patient vitals are also part of Mental Health Technician responsibilities
  • Mental Health Techs work within the nursing department under the direction of an RN Charge Nurse and Unit Nurse Manager

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in psychology or other related social service field is required, however, relevant psychiatric healthcare experience may be substituted for a degree
  • Direct patient care experience is required
  • Position also requires excellent verbal communication skills; ability to remain calm in dynamic environment; commitment to providing a high level of care to patients of all ages, excellent customer service skills and a reliable & dependable attendance to work profile
