Adjunct Faculty

FLSA:Exempt Temporary/Continuing: Temporary Part-Time/Full-Time:Part-Time Union Group:Ferris Nontenure-Track Faculty Organization (FNTFO) (AFT) Term of Position:As Needed At Will/Just Cause:At Will Summary of Position:The candidate will teach a broad spectrum of undergraduate Computer Information System classes as needed. Classes may include: programming (Java, Python, etc.), database design/ implementation/ administration, web development, systems analysis and design, and ERP (SAP) systems. This is a pooled position. One or more applicants may be hired to teach classes on a semester-by-semester basis. Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site. The anticipated start date is August 2025 at the earliest or January 2026 at the latest. Position Type:Faculty - Temporary & Continuing Required Education:Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology or related field, OR Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate credit hours in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Information Technology. Required Work Experience:Three years of industry experience in IS or IT related field with direct experience in one of the areas to be taught. Required Licenses and Certifications:Candidates with appropriate certifications and relevant teaching experience are preferred. Physical Demands:

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Essential Duties/Responsibilities:Teach a broad spectrum of undergraduate Computer Information Systems classes. Part-time teaching and related responsibilities; utilizing face-to-face, blended and/or online modes of delivery; delivery on or off campus; assuring/improving learning through assessment; close consultation with program faculty, as well as training via the Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include but are not limited to: keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance (ex .reporting initial student participation data and submitting final grades on time). Faculty may be required to teach off-campus or in an on-line environment. Faculty are expected to: assess student learning outcomes for their courses and actively participate in program assessment activities. Cultivates an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically. Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives. Perform any other duties assigned within the position classification area.
