Our High School Student Support Services Coordinator:
Our High School at School in the Square opened its doors in Fall 2024 where we began creating opportunities and access for our students that go beyond the core content areas. Our high school community provides students with educators who have great content expertise and passion for their content, while empowering them to have the autonomy and resources to get the job done in the most creative, effective, and fulfilling way possible.
We are looking for a dedicated, mission-aligned Student Support Services Coordinator to help lead our High School. Reporting to our Principal and in collaboration with a diverse and committed School Leadership Team (SLT), the Student Support Services Coordinator will spearhead our efforts to ensure high academic standards while also focusing on the social-emotional needs of all students.
Our Student Support Services Coordinator will help implement a quality, college and career-aligned academic and social development program for students with disabilities and multilingual learners. The Student Support Services Coordinator will use multiple sources of data to ensure students are receiving research-based support, intervention programs are being implemented with fidelity, students are making meaningful achievements, and families are partners in the work. The Student Support Services Coordinator will lead and implement the vision for co-teaching, manage and coach a team of teachers who are responsible for the IEP case management and compliance, create quality programs for students who need additional support, and lead professional development for teachers to create access for all learners in their classroom with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion..
Who You Are:
  • Experience as a full-time, impactful secondary special educator with a minimum of five years. Previous leadership experience preferred. Experience in an urban charter school setting is strongly preferred
  • A Masters Degree and New York state certification as a Teacher of Students with Disabilities or service provider.
  • Evidence of deep knowledge of special education compliance and effective practice.
  • An adept problem-solver with a demonstrated ability to think critically, plan strategically, as well as research and perform detailed data analysis;
  • Documented success coaching special educators and leading school-wide systems to support students with disabilities and multilingual learners.
  • Strong instructional leadership skills with experience coaching teachers and leading professional development.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to inform instruction and strengthen student outcomes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to equity and culturally responsive practice.
  • A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills
  • A consummate coach and strong relationship builder, you get personal fulfillment by succeeding through others and developing teachers and leaders
  • Familiar with restorative practices, a strong believer in anti-racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, trauma informed practices
  • Professional fluency in Spanish or experience with ESL/Dual Language teaching preferred
  • Proactive and fast learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate experience using technology as both a management and instructional tool
  • A high appreciation for and ability to work in and lead a diverse community
  • Team-player capable of working both collaboratively and independently with a proven ability to:
    • Engage, enlist, and energize others in ongoing improvement of learning and teaching;
    • Self-initiate, determine a course of action, and make necessary proposals for change when necessary
