What is a B2B QA engineer?

B2B QA Engineers are quality assurance professionals who specialize in testing software and systems designed for business-to-business (B2B) environments. Their primary role is to ensure that applications, platforms, or services meet business requirements and function reliably when interacting with other business systems. They develop and execute test plans, identify bugs, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues. B2B QA Engineers often work with complex integrations and data exchanges between organizations, requiring a strong understanding of both technical and business processes.

How does a B2B QA engineer typically collaborate with product and development teams during the software development lifecycle?

As a B2B QA Engineer, you will frequently work alongside product managers and developers to ensure that business requirements are thoroughly understood and reflected in the final product. This collaboration often involves participating in sprint planning, design reviews, and daily stand-ups, as well as clarifying requirements and reporting issues directly to the relevant teams. Effective communication and a proactive approach are key, as B2B products often have complex integrations and client-specific needs that require close teamwork to test and deliver high-quality solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a B2B QA engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a B2B QA Engineer, you need a solid understanding of software testing methodologies, attention to detail, and experience with enterprise-level applications, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with automation tools (such as Selenium or Postman), test management systems, and knowledge of API testing are typically required, along with certifications like ISTQB being advantageous. Strong analytical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams help set top performers apart. These skills ensure reliable, scalable solutions that meet complex business requirements and maintain high client satisfaction in B2B environments.

Job description

Vistex is a global enterprise software and services company that helps businesses take control of their mission-critical processes. With a multitude of programs covering pricing, trade, royalties and incentives, it can be complicated to see where all the money is flowing, let alone how much difference it makes to the topline and the bottom line. With Vistex, business stakeholders can see the numbers, see what really works, and see what to do next - so they can make sure every dollar spent or earned is really driving growth, and not just additional costs. The world's leading enterprises across a spectrum of industries rely on Vistex every day to propel their businesses.

The Quality Assurance Engineer delivers quality assurance for assigned product areas and is responsible for owning quality outcomes from test planning through release validation. The position balances test design and execution, mentoring of junior team members, and collaboration with development and product teams within
a defined technical scope.

Work Schedule Requirement: This role requires the ability to work during Pacific Time (PT) business hours to ensure alignment and availability with the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Own quality for assigned features, components, or modules - from test planning through release validation.
  • Design comprehensive test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, and edge case scenarios.
  • Write and maintain automated tests within the team's testing frameworks.
  • Identify quality risks early in the development process and propose mitigation approaches.
  • Collaborate with developers on testability, defect resolution, and integration validation.
  • Conduct exploratory testing to find issues beyond planned test cases.
  • Mentor associate-level QA team members on testing techniques and tools.
  • Contribute to test infrastructure improvements and process refinements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the team leader or manager within the scope of the role.
  • Strong knowledge of test methodologies, test design techniques, and the defect lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in test automation and the team's testing frameworks.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into comprehensive test strategies.
  • Analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication with developers, product team, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentoring instinct for less experienced QA team members.

The compensation for this position is $85k to $100k annually. Base pay will vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, a candidate's location, job-related knowledge, skills and work experience. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus. Vistex provides highly competitive benefits including comprehensive healthcare plan, 401(k) and paid time off, including paid volunteerism days!

About us:The Vistex platform helps businesses finally get control of all their different promotions, rebates, SPAs, discounts, and other incentives. With so many programs across so many partner relationships, it can be impossible to see where all the money is going, let alone how much difference it is actually making to revenue. With Vistex, business leaders can see the numbers, see what really works, and see what to do next - so they can make sure every dollar they spend really is driving more growth, not just more costs. It is why global enterprises ranging from Coca-Cola to Sony to Grainger rely on Vistex every day.
