Industry UsagePrimarily in organizations using Azure cloud servicesIn various organizations using multiple cloud providers or cloud security roles

Azure Security Remote focuses on securing Azure cloud environments remotely, often requiring Azure-specific certifications. Cloud Security Engineers have broader responsibilities across multiple cloud platforms, with certifications like CCSP or CISSP. Both roles work in cloud security but differ in scope and platform specialization.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Azure Security Remote professional?

To thrive as an Azure Security Remote Specialist, you need expertise in cloud security principles, Azure platform services, and risk management, typically backed by a degree in computer science or a related field and relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate. Familiarity with tools like Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, and compliance management systems is crucial. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication are valuable soft skills that set candidates apart. These skills and qualifications ensure the ability to protect cloud environments, mitigate security threats, and maintain compliance in remote work settings.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in remote Azure Security roles, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Azure Security professionals often face challenges such as staying up-to-date with rapidly evolving cloud security threats and ensuring consistent communication with distributed teams. To address these, it's important to commit to ongoing training and certifications, leverage secure collaboration tools, and establish regular check-ins with team members. Additionally, documenting security protocols and automating monitoring and incident response can help streamline workflows and maintain high security standards, even when working remotely.

Is Azure security a good career?

Azure security is a promising career path for professionals interested in cloud security, as organizations increasingly adopt Microsoft Azure for their cloud infrastructure. Roles typically require knowledge of security tools, cloud architecture, and certifications like Azure Security Engineer Associate. The field offers opportunities for growth, specialization, and competitive salaries due to high demand for cloud security expertise.

Staff Software Engineer - Cloud Platform Engineering

Harness

$57 - $75.75/hr

Full-time

Posted 12 days ago

Job description

Harness is the AI Software Delivery Platform company, led by technologist and entrepreneur Jyoti Bansal (founder of AppDynamics, acquired by Cisco for $3.7B). Harness has raised approximately $570M in funding and is valued at $5.5B, backed by leading investors including Goldman Sachs, Menlo Ventures, IVP, Unusual Ventures, Citi Ventures, and more. As AI accelerates code creation, the real bottleneck has shifted to everything after the code - testing, deployments, application security, reliability, compliance, and cost optimization. Harness brings AI and automation to this "outer loop," helping teams ship software faster while maintaining security and governance throughout the entire software delivery lifecycle.

Powered by Harness AI and the Software Delivery Knowledge Graph, the Harness Platform applies deep context and intelligent automation across the software delivery lifecycle with governance and policy-driven controls embedded throughout the platform.

Over the past year, Harness powered over 185M deployments, 82M builds, 18T flag evaluations, 8M security scans, 9.1B optimized tests, 3T protected API calls, and helped manage $2.8B in cloud spend - enabling customers like United Airlines, Morningstar, and Choice Hotels to accelerate releases by up to 75%, reduce cloud costs by up to 60%, and achieve 10x DevOps efficiency.

With a global team across 14 offices and 25 countries, Harness is shaping the future of AI software delivery - and we're looking for exceptional talent to help us move even faster.

Position Summary

As a Staff Cloud Engineer at Harness, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure.
