Job description

Job Title: AZURE ARCHITECT
Location: Washington DC
Duration: 12+ Months
Visa: USC, GC, H1B and EAD
Contract Type: W2
Azure Infrastructure Architect with a strong software development background, responsible for designing and implementing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure. This role combines application development, cloud architecture, DevOps, automation, and infrastructure engineering, with an emphasis on architecting infrastructure that supports modern applications and enterprise workloads.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and architect enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure for highly available, secure, and scalable applications.
  • Leverage a strong software development background to understand application architecture, code dependencies, APIs, microservices, and application deployment requirements.
  • Design Azure environments using services such as Azure VMs, AKS, App Services, Azure Functions, Storage, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, VNets, Private Endpoints, Key Vault, and Azure Monitor.
  • Develop and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates.
  • Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, configuration, and operational processes using Python, PowerShell, or scripting languages.
  • Work closely with application developers to translate application requirements into scalable Azure infrastructure solutions.
  • Architect microservices and containerized application environments using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.
  • Design Azure networking solutions including VNets, subnets, NSGs, load balancers, Application Gateway, Azure Firewall, DNS, VPN, ExpressRoute, and Private Link.
  • Implement cloud security and identity solutions using Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, Managed Identity, Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, and security policies.
  • Design cloud solutions aligned with Azure Well-Architected Framework principles.
  • Lead application modernization and migration initiatives from on-premises environments to Azure.
  • Evaluate existing applications and recommend re-platforming, refactoring, re-architecting, or re-hosting strategies.
  • Establish monitoring, logging, performance management, and operational processes using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and related observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex application and infrastructure issues and perform root-cause analysis.
  • Establish standards for cloud governance, resource management, tagging, cost optimization, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with development, DevOps, security, data, and infrastructure teams throughout the application lifecycle.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to development and engineering teams.
  • Create architecture diagrams, technical documentation, deployment standards, and solution design documents.
