Long Term Contract Job Overview:We are seeking an experienced
Azure Cloud Architect with deep expertise in
Cosmos DB and
NoSQL-based cloud data migrations to join our cloud transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with
Python coding, skilled in database architecture and migration, and capable of leading complex data modernization efforts, particularly from
MarkLogic to Cosmos DB.
Key Responsibilities: - Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure, focusing on Cosmos DB, data services, and scalable application design.
- Lead or contribute to data migration efforts from MarkLogic DB to Azure Cosmos DB.
- Develop and optimize data access layers using Cosmos DB SDKs, APIs, and Python.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to understand objectives, design system requirements, and deliver scalable solutions.
- Evaluate, recommend, and integrate emerging data technologies and patterns into enterprise systems.
- Ensure robust database design, modeling, and performance tuning practices.
- Guide data governance, security, and compliance best practices across cloud-hosted systems.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors to ensure delivery milestones are met.
Required Skills & Experience: - 12-15+ years of IT experience, with 5-8+ years in Azure architecture and data services.
- Proven expertise in Cosmos DB (NoSQL): schema design, indexing, partitioning, performance optimization.
- Strong Python programming skills for automation, data transformation, and SDK integrations.
- Hands-on experience in migrating data from MarkLogic (or similar NoSQL DB) to Cosmos DB.
- Solid experience in SQL and relational database systems.
- Proficiency in data warehousing concepts, ETL pipelines, and data modeling.
- Experience designing and optimizing cloud-native database architectures.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.
Nice to Have: - Exposure to Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, or other Azure-native tools for data integration.
- Experience with big data ecosystems or hybrid data platform strategies.
