Job description

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Avtron Power Solutions manufacture and distribute market leading load bank solutions for mission critical applications. We have the largest portfolio in the industry and can meet the highest load testing standards with our intelligent SIGMA load bank control system.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Avtron is seeking to hire a Field Service Technician – Level 1 who will perform field service activities at customer sites. Our customers include data centers, healthcare, government, and other industries requiring mission critical power. The Field Service Technician – Level 1 will travel to customer locations to perform startup services, maintenance services, troubleshooting, and repair of Avtron Power Solutions’ products. The Field Service Technician – Level 1 will work with Field Service management to ensure world-class service is provided on a timely and consistent basis. This role requires strong communication skills, follow-up skills, organizational skills, collaboration and teamwork skills, and the ability to work either independently or as part of a crew. This position will be based in the United States but may travel North and South America, if needed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

  • Perform startup and routine maintenance on electrical power equipment
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, hardware, software, and system failures
  • Perform equipment testing to confirm proper function and identify operational issues
  • Provide detailed documentation of all service visits within the specified timeframe
  • Respond to customer inquiries and provide guidance on potential upgrades or improvements
  • Adhere to Avtron Power Solutions’ safety policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Field Service team members to relay important information and improve service delivery
  • Travel up to 90%
  • Willingness to work overtime and non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays, as required
  • Must be available to travel on short notice

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED

Skills

  • Team player with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years’ field service experience, preferably in power generation and backup power, or equivalent military experience
  • Electrical wiring diagram and schematic knowledge
  • Networking and/or electronic communication experience a plus
  • Experience with fluid systems, chill water systems a plus
  • Ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams through verbal and written communication
