Job description

AVP of Insurance & Operations $80,000-$105,000 annually – NJ Location

Position Overview 

The AVP of Insurance & Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing NMEF’s insurance product program, corporate insurance management, and related operational functions. This leader ensures regulatory compliance, effective risk mitigation, and service excellence— partnering closely with internal stakeholders, customers, insurers, reinsurers, and vendors to drive operational efficiency and organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management 

· Lead, coach, and develop the Insurance & Operations team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant execution of daily functions.

· Establish clear performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and support professional growth and development across the team.

· Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-centric service delivery.

Insurance Product Administration 

· Oversee the company’s insurance product program, including program design, customer placement, premium collection, claims management, reporting, and audits.

· Evaluate and manage equipment insurance requirements, including coverage terms, exclusions, fee quotes, refunds, documentation, and claims procedures.

· Review insurance program activity for accuracy, including payment reconciliation, notification letters, premium reporting, and reinsurer submissions.

· Ensure all insurance-related processes comply with applicable state regulations, contractual obligations, and internal policy standards.

Corporate Insurance Program Management 

· Manage NMEF’s corporate insurance portfolio, including General Liability, Property, Errors & Omissions, Directors & Officers, Cyber Liability, and other applicable coverages.

· Oversee policy renewals, coverage analysis, and broker and insurer relationships to ensure adequate and cost-effective protection across all business lines.

· Identify and assess organizational risk exposures; develop and implement mitigation strategies in coordination with senior leadership.

Operations, Compliance & Process Improvement 

· Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, controls, and workflows governing insurance and operational compliance activities.

· Monitor key performance metrics, identify operational risk areas, and support vendor and audit reviews.

· Drive continuous improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and customer experience across all operational functions.

· Partner with internal departments, external vendors, insurers, reinsurers, and customers to resolve escalated issues and optimize end-to-end processes.

· Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by senior leadership.

Required Qualifications 

· Property and Casualty Insurance Producer License required.

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered.

· Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in insurance administration, equipment finance, commercial lending, or a comparable operational environment.

· Demonstrated leadership experience, including team management, performance coaching, prioritization, and employee development.

· Proven track record managing corporate insurance programs—including policy placement, renewals, coverage analysis, and insurer/broker relationship management— strongly preferred.

· Strong knowledge of P&C insurance administration, compliance, and controls

· Ability to interpret and apply regulatory and contractual requirements

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

· Tableau or similar reporting/BI tool experience preferred

· Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

· Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results

· Outstanding written and verbal communication across all levels

· High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
