Job description

Position Overview
Reporting to the Regional Vice President of Business Development, the Area Vice President of Business Development plays a critical role in driving referral growth, supporting business strategy, and developing both the sales and operations teams within their assigned area. The role is highly collaborative and hands-on, focused not only on leading the business development team but also on working side-by-side with operations leaders to ensure pipeline adequacy and long-term market success. A key responsibility of this position is to mentor and empower operational partners to build confidence, refine their skillsets, and represent Aveanna in a way that fosters growth and alignment with our brand.
The AVP of Business Development supports forecasting, strategic planning, and team development while helping ensure each market is equipped to drive and sustain growth. By partnering closely with both sales and operational leaders, this role plays a pivotal part in translating strategy into action and helping teams feel condiment and capable as they grow their markets.
Essential Job Functions
Partner with operational leaders to assess referral pipeline strength, identify gaps, and co-create market development plans that support local growth goals. .
Assist in coaching and developing operations teams to strengthen their ability to confidently represent the brand and build long-lasting referral relationships.
Collaborate with area and regional leadership to implement segment growth strategies that reflect both local market dynamics and broader organizational priorities.
Lead and guide Care Navigators and other sales team members to ensure sales targets and performance objectives are met or exceeded.
Participate in regular business reviews and strategy sessions with operations to drive alignment between sales initiatives and market capacity.
Mentor sales and operations teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
The AVP of Business Development is responsible for cultivating and managing key hospital relationships within the territory to drive consistent referral volume in collaboration with the Care Navigator and through their own direct engagement.
Evaluate market trends, monitor competitors, and help allocate resources to maximize referral volume and market share.
Support the RVP of Development in talent selection, onboarding, and performance management across the business development function.
Represent Aveanna Healthcare at relevant association meetings, conferences, and events to strengthen brand presence and uncover new business opportunities.
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning at the area level.
Help facilitate the implementation of corporate programs and identify new opportunities to generate revenue or increase market reach.
Provide hands-on support to team members in negotiating and closing business opportunities.
Monitor, manage, and ensure fiscal responsibility across the development team in alignment with budgetary goals.
Lead with a collaborative mindset, creating opportunities for shared success across teams and functions.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University
Five plus years of top level sales experience
Develop, coach and manage 6-12 direct reports with success
Must be able to travel up to 75% of the time
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages and volume
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Current driver's license and acceptable MVR
