Job description

At Avidyne we're redefining what it means to simply fly. Avidyne's next-generation avionics make flying intuitive, safe, and stress-free, and now, we're looking for a Senior Certification Engineer to help us bring those innovations to life. Here, your work has visibility and impact, shaping the systems pilots depend on every day.

In this role, you'll lead the end-to-end certification process for Avidyne's advanced avionics systems across fixed- and rotary-wing platforms, partnering closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams and regulatory agencies to deliver products our pilots can trust.

WHY AVIDYNE?

We design and build avionics that elevate the flying experience. As a mid-sized, fast-moving company, we offer the impact, visibility, and ownership that larger organizations can't. Here, your expertise shapes real products and the pilots who rely on them feel the difference.

At Avidyne, you'll:

  • Advance a mission that matters: Contribute to avionics that redefine flight safety, usability, and confidence in the cockpit.
  • Shape how we certify and deliver: Influence the systems, standards, and methods that ensure our products meet the highest bar for compliance and performance.
  • Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with systems, software, hardware, and test engineering teams, along with regulatory authorities and DERs.
  • Grow with purpose: Join a culture that values clarity, accountability, mentorship, and continuous improvement-where thoughtful engineering is encouraged and rewarded.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Lead certification projects for avionics systems or subsystems from planning through final approval.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities, DERs, and auditors to secure approvals and close compliance gaps.
  • Drive certification strategies to meet FAA, EASA, and global airworthiness standards.
  • Develop and maintain certification plans, test reports, IMs, PGAs, compliance matrices, and ICAs.
  • Define certification strategy and means of compliance.
  • Partner with systems, software, and hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of certification requirements throughout design and development.
  • Coordinate conformity inspections, audits, and reviews with FAA, EASA, and DERs.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline internal processes and contribute to certification best practices.
  • Stay current on evolving regulations and contribute to process improvements.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Knowledge & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Aerospace, or related Engineering.
  • 5+ years of certification or systems engineering experience (3+ with a Master's).
  • Proven experience managing FAA certification programs (TSO, STC, or TC).
  • Hands-on knowledge of DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, and ARP4761 compliance standards.
  • Experience coordinating with regulatory authorities and DERs.

Attributes

  • Detail-oriented engineer who thrives on clarity and takes ownership of complex certification efforts.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead certification efforts with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • Experience with EASA validation.
  • Experience with multi-system integration projects.
  • Pilot's license, flight training, or strong knowledge of general aviation operations.
  • Track record of process improvement in certification or compliance.

If you're looking for a place where your certification expertise truly shapes outcomes (not just paperwork), we'd love to connect. Apply today and help ensure every Avidyne experience reflects our promise on Simply Flying.
