Terms of Employment:Responsible To: AVID AdministratorLocation: Freshman CampusDaily Schedule: Tuesday and ThursdayHours per Day: 3-4 hours per dayCompensation: $20.00 / hrQualifications:Current enrollment in a college or university or Associates or Bachelor degree in any content areaAbility to work closely with staff membersAbility to stimulate students to actively participate in the learning processStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to plan and organize.Ability to come to work on a regular basis and to be timely. Responsibilities:Participate in all required AVID and district training, professional development sessions and meetings for the purpose of collaborating with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation and revision of the program. Conduct AVID tutorial sessions that underscore the principle of collaborative learning and the practice of students teaching other students through discussion of class and text notes.Determine from student tutorial worksheets, notes, and discussion of concepts that need to be the focus of tutorial sessions

Assess student participation and engagement during tutorial sessions. Assist students in any subject area, by being familiar with students' textbooks, materials and AVID classroom resources for the purpose of ensuring a student's knowledge and understanding of specific subject matter. Assist in promoting study skills and other skills necessary for college preparation for the purpose of helping students improve and achieve academic success.Facilitate student learning in a challenging, yet supportive, tutoring environment for the purpose of improving student academic capabilities in designated courses

Communicate regularly with the AVID coordinator/teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern.Establish and maintain rapport with students for the purpose of serving as role models to students. Sets an example of personal excellence and high expectations for all AVID students for the purpose of serving as a role modelOther duties as assigned. Physical Requirements:Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time

Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed). Ability to move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
